# Introduction

Create and manage programmatic deals against Sovrn's curated supply.

The **Curation API** lets a curation partner create and manage programmatic
deals against Sovrn's supply: private-marketplace deals (`pmp`), where each
buyer names the seats that may transact, and `open` deals, which any buyer on
the DSP can transact on. You submit a deal request; Sovrn creates the deal in
real time and returns a Sovrn external deal ID (`SVN_…`) that you hand to your
buyer or DSP. You can then poll the deal's status and edit it.

## How it works

1. **Create a deal.** `POST /deal-requests` with your targeting, buyers,
pricing, and schedule. Sovrn creates the deal synchronously and returns its
   `SVN_…` id.
2. **Hand off the deal ID.** Give the `SVN_…` id to your buyer or DSP so they
   can transact on it.
3. **Poll and edit.** `GET /deal-requests/{id}` for live status;
`PATCH /deal-requests/{id}` to edit the deal, its status included (see
[Editing a deal](https://developer.sovrn.com/docs/deal-lifecycle#editing-a-deal) for the rules).

Production is the only environment available to partners.

## Rate limit

Requests are limited to **15 per minute** for each API key. A request over the
limit returns `429` (see [Errors](https://developer.sovrn.com/docs/errors)), so space out bulk operations
accordingly.
